Social Tote

My sewing area is much more organized today with the addition of this lovely Social Tote designed by Carolyn Friedlander.

I used essex linen, some Riley Blake fabrics, and of course those gorgeous creatures came from Art Gallery Fabrics Utopia.

The pattern was easy to follow. Every step was very clear. When it came to the binding, I decided to my own thing. I regret that now because mine came out wonky.

And this is a really easy way to carry notions around. Whether I need them at my sewing machine, the longarm, or a sewing class, I can now just grab them all at once.

  3. I've been meaning to tackle this pattern. I have a sew-in coming up, and it would be perfect for keeping everything together! I'm a huge fan of Essex linen -- especially Essex linen in flax -- but what I really love about your fabric selections here is that delightful fushia in the interior. YUM!

  6. Super sweet! What a good idea, a notions tote! I have a little rectangular fabric basket that would fit this bill nicely...thanks for the idea!

  9. Looking at it before reading your blog, I thought it was to carry a casserole dish to a pot-luck dinner! I think it's very pretty.

  11. It does look like a casserole dish carrier! I bet this pattern could easily be altered to be just that. Great finish, beautiful complimentary fabrics you chose!
