Quilt Patterns and a Contest

When I began blogging less than a year ago, I knew that I wanted to create my own quilt patterns and put them out on craftsy and etsy to sell. This year I have been sewing up a storm, learning techniques and perfecting my craft. I still have a long way to go on that. But I have wanted more than anything to DESIGN. Design is what drew me to quilting in the first place.

So, now, I have finally designed some blocks. I would really like to know what people are interested in when they buy quilt or block patterns. There's an open-ended question for you...why do you buy the patterns you buy? And would any of the following appeal to you?

I am participating in the Accuquilt block contest which is going on through the end of the month. There is nothing like a contest and a deadline to get my creative juices finally flowing. It would be great if you voted for my blocks, but I am mostly looking (from a business perspective) at what appeals to other quilters.

I would really appreciate you vote, and your direction on which block/quilt to make first. You do need to sign in on Accuquilt.com to vote, and you can vote as many times as you want. The contest ends May 28. There are also prizes for voters too!

  5. Hi!! I just wanted to say that the luminary block is super cute.
When I look at patterns, I look for how well it translates into other colours. I look for whether it's in my sewing level (how good would it be if patterns came with a ranking system - 10 for I don't need patterns I'm so freaking awesome, down to 1 for I can barely thread my machine please use small words in short sentences). I look at whether I would be prepared to make a hundred thousand of them to do a whole quilts worth. Or if I think I could make it bigger/smaller to get away with one block only (like a giant block for a quilt or 1 smaller block for a cushion or something).
Now that I am getting (slightly) better at sewing I am trying to push myself to do things that look hard but are beautiful. And I think your repository and luminary blocks are things that I want to make... One day... When I know what I'm doing :-)
    E xx
