ALYoF September

September has been all about the Home For Christmas Medallion quilt. The top is finished! <insert happy dance here>

My ALYoF goal for this month was to complete the top, and that I did (just  under the wire).

I love it! I love it! I LOVE envisioning a quilt in my head, and over the course of a month, seeing it come to life. It is the best when there aren't too many piecing problems, and this one went together easily.

A center radiating star is surrounded by bright Christmas present, peppermints, Christmas trees and ornaments, then a candy cane border, and finally cheery houses with friendship corner stars. It's definitely Christmasy, but not so over the top.

I love those little houses! Now it's time to get to quilting! I can't wait to show you the finished quilt...hopefully, next week.

Work, Work, Work in Progress Wednesday

It's beginning to look a lot more like Christmas, at least the quilt is looking more like Christmas.

After the pinwheel border was attached, the quilt made for a perfect baby quilt. That's not exactly what I was going for.

Now there are plenty of Christmas trees and some corner ornaments.

Today, I have begun working on the candy cane border. The bloc-loc ruler makes for quick work and perfect HSTs.

After the candy cane border comes one more border of houses and stars. This is such a fun quilt!

WIP Wednesday

Wow, is this week going by fast or what?
ggg20140917_01
My medallion is coming along nicely.
ggg20140917_02
I love these simple blocks. I may need to blow up the size of this one and make a quilt with just this one block. This would be a good use of Liberty fabrics, I think.

Next week I will be adding a pinwheel border.

WIP Wednesday

My week has been really productive so far...
ggg20140910_01
The star block measures 15.5-inches square.
ggg20140910_02
The presents measure 5 x 6.5-inches.

ggg20140910_04
I better get back to it! I hope you are having a lovely day!

September Quilty Goals

Last week, I finished designing a Christmas medallion quilt. I ordered up the fabric one week ago. With the long weekend, I finally received my package of fabric yesterday.

ggg20140905_01

Talk about quilting impatience!

ggg20140905_02

Classic Christmas colors!

ggg20140905_03

Not so classic Christmas colors! Wait! How did Kona in Sangria make it in this bundle?

ggg20140905_04

This is much better. I must have been craving a sangria when I placed this fabric order! Have you ever purchased fabric based on the yummy name? Today I'm craving some fabric in pumpkin spice!

My goal for this month is to complete the top of this quilt. I better start stitching!
